Nearly 2x the average rate of violent crimes in California
San Joaquin County residents experience a rate of violent crimes that is almost double that of state averages. Source.

18.6% of those experiencing homelessness are younger than 25
13% of those experiencing homelessness in San Joaquin County are Children under the age of 18 with an additional 5.6% between the ages of 18-24. Source.

47% of youth are not physically active
Close to 50% of youth in San Joaquin County are physically inactive and 23% are obese with Black and Latino youth experiencing the greatest disparities. Source.

The Boys & Girls Club was fortunate to receive support from the Brian M. Stocker Fund for the Club's Triple Play Program: A Game Plan for Mind, Body, Soul. The program teaches the importance of physical activity, proper nutrition, and forming positive relationships and enables youth to build the skills needed to overcome environmental factors that can negatively impact health, wellness, and overall academic success.

Stocker Fund allowed the organization to double our youth-led efforts by contracting two additional youth to run workshops and social media campaigns, providing enhanced training on air quality and environmental causes for asthma, offering incentives for workshop participation, and providing additional supervision and guidance by administrative staff.
