“During the pandemic, the Club quickly stepped up and supported youth and families dealing with learning loss, food insecurities, isolation, and trauma by prioritizing health, safety, and education. The club was fortunate to receive support from the Brian M. Stocker Fund for the Club’s Triple Play Program: A Game Plan for Mind, Body, Soul for the 2021-2022 school year and summer of 2022. The program teaches the importance of physical activity, proper nutrition, and forming positive relationships and enables youth to build the skills needed to overcome environmental factors that can negatively impact health, wellness, and overall academic success.”

Alexia (pictured above) is a bright and energetic 6th grader who loves English class and PE. Unfortunately, homework for her was a constant struggle with her dragging it out or getting frustrated when she got stuck. Thanks to the support she’s received at the Club, she’s learning to think differently about her homework, which she prioritizes during Power Hour homework help time. Alexia will tell you, “I’m feeling more confident with my work now because I know that Mr. Aldo and Mr. Moises are there to answer my questions.” The progress she has made and the positive example she sets for younger Club members are a few reasons Alexia was recognized as Youth of the Month in October 2021.
