The Sozosei Foundation was established in 2019 as a philanthropic arm of Otsuka. The Sozosei Foundation Community
Fund was created to make a tangible impact in diverse, under-resourced communities.
The city of Stockton, CA was chosen because of its geographic proximity to Otsuka’s offices, in Hayward, CA and the potential of local nonprofits and community leaders to build resilient, vibrant communities.
Grants are awarded to organizations that specifically address: access to the arts and/or creative placemaking; food security; mental and physical health (including kidney health); racial justice; and social and legal services.
